Health and safety in Canada
Canada is a country occupying the northern half of North America that offers a healthy and safe study environment to the international students. It is one of most popular study destinations, owing to its high-rank universities, public discipline and transparent and strict government laws. Safety in Canada along with a friendly multicultural environment attracts even more students from abroad every year.
Public Safety Canada
Public Safety Canada is a government body created in 2003 to maintain safety in Canada and keep the people of Canada secure against risks of natural disasters, crime and terrorism. The Public Safety Canada Department operates in conjunction with all the federal departments and agencies responsible for public safety and security. This department has been established in Canada with the view of having a single entity which will be responsible for ensuring public safety. Public Safety Canada coordinates with five agencies and three review bodies under a single portfolio with all reporting to the same minister.
This department ensures that the government’s approach to safety is highly prioritized and organized. The department always stays prepared to confront all kinds of threats to national security and safety in the country. Public Safety Canada coordinates an integrated approach encompassing emergency management, enforcement of law, crime prevention and border security.
All universities and colleges in Canada are committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment to all the students. To ensure that, every institution works in compliance with the rules, regulations and procedures detailed in the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and all other federal, provincial and municipal acts and regulations that may apply.
